2001 -
2004
In spring 2001Jane's Addiction reunited once again!
The band was invited by the organisers of Coachella - Music and Arts Festival to play and seized the opportunity. This time, the gap that was left by Eric Avery was filled by Martyn LeNoble (formerly of Porno For Pyros, The Cult).
On 26 April, 2001, two days before the Coachella Festival, they played their first show in Santa Barbara. Both shows took the audience by storm. Soon two appearances at radio shows followed. Jane's Addiction only played short sets of about 30 minutes. On October 2, 2001 Jane's Addiction started their fall tour of the USA with Martyn LeNoble on Bass. Martyn, however, wouldn't stay with the band long. He was asked to leave the band on July 28th, 2002, in Japan. (Click here to read a short statement from Dave).
The new bassist of choice was Chris Chaney, who made his live debut with the band in London, on August 19th, 2002.
In 2003, this lineup released their follow-up studio album to Ritual De Lo Habitual, simply titled Strays. With their new album, they headlined that year's Lollapalooza festival, and in the Fall, a European tour.
In late December, 2003, a handful of US concerts were cancelled. According to a statement by Perry Farrell, the cancellation was due to exhaustion. But Jane's Addiction would never recover from that exhaustion. On June 22nd, 2004, Dave announced Jane's Addiction's split. He also announced that from now on, he'll work on a project with Stephen Perkins and Chris Chaney, called The Panic Channel. (Read Dave's statement on the split.)
